Privacy policy

Only what you type into our contact form or trip builder, and anything you add in a follow-up message. In practice that is your name, your email address, sometimes a phone number or country, your intended travel dates and length of trip, and the free-text notes you write about the journey you have in mind.

We do not ask for passport details, payment card details or any special category data through this website. If a booking goes ahead, anything further is handled directly with you by email.

To reply to your enquiry and to plan a trip with you. That is the only purpose. We process this information because you have asked us to respond, and because it is necessary to prepare a possible booking.

Enquiries are stored in the database behind this website and sent by email to Ovi Travel Guides so we can answer them. They are read by Waruna and the small team who plan trips. Where a trip goes ahead, the relevant details are shared with the drivers, guides and accommodation involved in your itinerary, and with nobody else.

We do not sell your details, we do not share them with advertising networks, and we do not add you to a marketing list unless you ask us to.

Enquiries that do not lead to a trip are kept for up to two years, in case you come back to the conversation, and then deleted. Records relating to trips that went ahead are kept for up to seven years, which is the period Sri Lankan business and tax records need to be retained for.

This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Anything strictly necessary for the site to load is used only for that purpose.

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for a copy, or ask us to delete it. Email info@ovitravels.com and we will respond within 30 days. If you are in the EU or UK, you also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
