Kelani Valley
Kitulgala
White water on the Kelani, and the river where The Bridge on the River Kwai was filmed.
Kitulgala sits in the wet zone on the Kelani River, and is the centre of white-water rafting in Sri Lanka — grade 2 and 3 rapids that suit first-timers. The rainforest around it is good birding country, and the 1957 film's bridge was built and blown up here.
