Horton Plains National Park
Sri Lanka's highest plateau, and a cliff that drops 870 metres without warning.
Over 2,000m above sea level, Horton Plains is high montane grassland and cloud forest — a different island altogether. The loop walk takes about three hours and reaches World's End, where the plateau simply stops. Go at first light: by nine the cloud has usually closed in and the view is gone.
