The hill country walks best between January and March. Adam's Peak is climbed overnight in pilgrimage season to reach the summit for sunrise; Horton Plains is a three-hour loop to a cliff that drops 870 metres; Little Adam's Peak above Ella takes an hour and gives you the same light for a fraction of the effort. Knuckles Range treks run one to three days with village stays.
