The sheltered bay next to Galle — swimming, snorkelling and a lot of beach restaurants.
Unawatuna's crescent bay is protected by a reef, which makes it one of the safest swimming beaches on the south coast and a good place to learn to snorkel or dive. It is developed — this is not an empty beach — but Jungle Beach and Dalawella are a short tuk tuk away when you want quiet.
