Yala National Park

The highest density of leopards anywhere, plus elephants, sloth bears and a lot of other jeeps.

Yala is Sri Lanka's most visited national park and, in Block 1, has one of the highest leopard densities in the world. It is also busy — which is why we start before the gates open and use trackers we work with year-round rather than whoever is at the entrance. Beyond leopards: elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles, and peacocks displaying in the scrub.
