Mirissa
Blue whales offshore in season, surf in the bay, and nothing much to do afterwards.
Mirissa is the base for blue whale watching on the south coast between roughly November and April — boats leave before dawn and the animals are the largest that have ever lived. The rest of the time it is a beach town with a beginner-friendly surf break, a headland to walk up at sunset, and a good excuse to stop moving for three days.
